Buy Unit I first, and keep Unit II in your plan

South Carolina divides the initial education into 60 hours of fundamentals and 30 hours of advanced principles. These are commonly called Unit I and Unit II. The state licensing law, Section 40-57-320, permits applicants to take the examination before completing the 30 advanced hours.

Colibri’s current South Carolina packages below include 60-hour Unit I. Buying Exam Preparation Plus or Ultimate adds support and materials; it does not turn the purchase into a 90-hour bundle. Plan and budget for Unit II separately before submitting your license application.

Compare support levels for the same Unit I course

Exam Preparation at $407.40 is our suggested choice for the Unit I-to-exam stage. It adds practice exams, flashcards and readiness tracking for $60 above the course-only package. Choose Plus when scheduled live review would help you work through questions.

South Carolina 60-hour Unit I packages, checked October 23, 2026 with LEARN40. Unit II is separate.

Each tier covers the same initial 60-hour course. Decide on the extra support by how you will use it. Live-review access is more valuable when the session times fit your calendar; a printed textbook helps if paper is part of your study routine.

Use the right sequence from school to examination

  1. Complete Unit I. Colibri lists a proctored course final. Check the arrangements before your last lessons.
  2. Apply for exam eligibility with the Commission. Its licensing FAQ says applicants need eligibility approval before registering for the exam. Follow the application instructions for background checks rather than ordering them early.
  3. Prepare for the licensing exam and complete Unit II. The law allows the exam before Unit II, but the additional 30 hours are needed for the ordinary education route to a license.

The South Carolina real estate agent guide connects those stages to the full application and broker requirements. Current state law calls the entry-level license an associate license; school catalogs may still use salesperson terminology.

Budget for the complete education path

Use the table as your Unit I purchase comparison. Reserve another line in your budget for Unit II, then the examination and licensing process. Our South Carolina license and startup costs cover expenses outside this course offer.

Before enrollment, confirm the course-access period and final-exam setup. A simple planning example is eight weeks at 7.5 coursework hours a week for Unit I. Review, exams and the separate Unit II will need additional time.

South Carolina course questions

Does Ultimate include Unit II?

The current listing is a 60-hour package with additional study and career resources. Do not count it as both units. Arrange the required 30-hour Unit II separately.

Can I start with the least expensive package?

Yes. The Basics contains Unit I. Exam Preparation adds tools for reviewing the material, while Plus adds live review; the initial education hours do not change.
